Ace Cafe Orlando Bikes, Cars, Rock n Roll

With regularly scheduled concerts, bike nights, car meets, and other socials this place could stand on its own as a venue if they had nothing more than the space, fortunately for us food tribe they have much more than that. This place is pretty extra, for the amount of space a single restaurant occupies downtown, the size of the parking lot and the restaurant itself are very extra ordinary for the area and when you start to factor in the food and multiple bars inside well it all just comes together. So lets take a dive into the food, they have a solid American style menu, burgers, bbq, wings, and they take this all pretty seriously. We just did some new additions for this run but we started with a salad that was just lovely. Got it salad good? ok now on to the pink meat, we got the wings which were 20 jumbo size morsels of delicious. So they have the house sauce which is a bit like a sweet Thai chili but not and I am not quite sure how to describe it but it was perfect, they also gave us some buffalo which they did very well the flavor was very balanced so the wings were a fantastic start.

Next up we got to the real juicy bits with the Jameson Blue Burger and the Ribs. Starting off with the ribs, these stand out because Ace Cafe has and actually uses a smoker so these really rock this nice meaty texture unlike many of these places that just keep them in the oven. The smoke flavor is in the meat and even though it comes off the bone it doesn’t slide off in a greasy way so these were a win in my book. Then on to the Jameson Blue Burger which is for all intents and purposes a blue cheese burger and in that right it holds its own but what sets this aside is the whiskey sauce which really was out there. Most places use bourbon when making a whiskey sauce and bourbon works because of its sweeter sugary nature, that kind of maple texture makes sauces sweet and bbq flavored easily, so now with an Irish whiskey which is a bit more tart than it is sweet you have a different taste profile. The way it turned out was really impressive because it has that underlying sweet whisky sauce flavor with just the right amount of the Irish tart to change the way it tastes so good job chef.

Almost forgot to mention that at the end of this gut busting feast we polished off a Key Lime Pie all made in house and we washed all this down with a couple of their signature cocktails, their appletini and the Jayhawk Punch.
