Small English Village, Big Time Flavor

Hidden away in small town Lingfield population about 4,000 people is the cozy little Star Inn and Pub. This older looking unsuspecting place is similar to the thousands of other pubs and inns you’d see all over the country but one thing that sets this place apart from the others is their very appealing menu. Of course you have the basics pub foods but their menu begins to go beyond all the usual deep fried pub wonders. To start I ordered some halloumi fried cheese sticks, beer battered halloumi cheese fried to perfection and I get that it may sound a lot like any other fried cheese stick but I would say you have to try it before you go beyond accepting that all cheese sticks are beautiful. So here we go main dish time, that little baby up top? ya that’s apricot stuffed pork belly and man that was good.

My cousin went ahead and ordered a gluten free chicken burger (I was surprised at how many gluten free options there were in England but that may end up being another post) and this cajun chicken burger hit the nail on the head. Crab cakes, stews, steaks and pizzas all available to pair with their rotating beer selection and lovely wine list. If you’re flying through Gatwick and have a layover take that 20 minute trip and go check this piece of village life out!
